Our history

Express Services Pty Ltd is a family owned business that have been operating as port agents in Walvis Bay Namibia since 1985. We have been working mostly with vessels and rigs in the oil and gas industry, suppling services such as bunkering, provisions, crew changes, dry-docking and import and export of spares.

We have also handled various seismic survey and oceanographic research projects along the Namibian coast through the years. We have our own overnight service between Windhoek and the coast to handle shipments for our vessel and local clients. We also have an in house clearing and forwarding team handling all customs documentation for import and export shipments of local and international clients. We have handled many specialized project cargoes and did various life stock exports.  We also have 400 sqm warehouse space next to our offices to keep client’s cargo safe.

In November 2014, we handled three drill ships at anchor at the same time that was a first for Namibia. In the space of 5 days, we handled 730 crew +- 300 ton of spares and provisions that came in by air and road freight. We had no supply vessel and had to rely on using the launches available here to do this task. Each drill ship also had a tanker supplying a total of +-8000 tons of gas oil to them. This was a huge team effort involving many local subcontractors showing the world that even with the limited resources we have here we can still provide a top class service.

In beginning of 2016, we had a semi submersible rig here doing the first successful 5-year SPS inspection while at anchor here. We have provided lay-up solutions for vessels and rigs during the economic down turn.

In mid 2018 we saw the rig we had here in 2016 for 5 year SPS come back for an upgrade project where an complete 8 point anchoring system was fitted. This was done at anchorage with daily launches ferrying personnel and materials in and out. During this project we moved +- 6500 tons of spares, equipment, tools and provisions between rig and shore. Upon completion of this project in 2019 we got the  rig ready for cold stacking which was another 3 month project.

For 2020 and 2021 we where servicing 3 drill ships and 1 semi submersible rig laid up here due to Covid down turn. The 3 drill ships  where all busy with maintenance projects and 2 have recently been reactivated and returned to Angola for drilling projects.

In 2021 we also implemented ISO9001 2015  quality management system to ensure our customers of a fully quality compliant service. In June 2021 we started reactivation of drill ships West Gemini and
Sonangol Quenguela and October West Gemini was up and running and left for
drilling projects in Angola. Sonangol Quenguela completed reactivation in
February 2022 and left for drilling projects in Angola.

In 2022 we were fortunate
to secure drydocking projects or several Svitzer tugs operating on the west
coast of Africa. We were also involved doing crew changes on drillship Valaris
DS-10 during her drilling project in Namibia where the first major oil find was
done in Namibia. We provide vessel agency services to Afrishore for rigs
currently involved with drilling projects in Namibian waters. Since 2022 up
till now we have assisted Shearwater with multiple seismic projects that they have
done here.

We are available 24/7 and will always try to supply you with the best service and most cost effective logistical solution.
